Get Garage Sales, Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Get Garage Sales platform at greatgaragesales.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our service.

Information we collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
Listing information: When you post a sale, we collect the title, category, date, time, address, photos, price range, and item descriptions you provide.
Location: We detect your approximate city from your IP address to show nearby sales. We do not access your device's GPS without explicit permission.
Usage data: We collect standard server logs (page views, browser type, referring URL) to improve the service. This data is not sold to third parties.

How we use your information

To operate the service: show your listings on the map, let neighbors find sales near them, and let you manage your listings from the dashboard.
To operate free posting: no card is required while free posting is enabled. If paid posting returns later, payment details will be handled by encrypted, PCI-compliant infrastructure.
To communicate with you: we may send transactional emails about your listings (confirmation, sale-day address reveal) and, with your consent, occasional product updates.
To improve Get Garage Sales: aggregate, anonymized usage patterns help us prioritize features.

Listing addresses and privacy

When you post a sale, your exact address is hidden from buyers until the morning of the sale.
Before sale day, only an approximate pin (accurate to the neighborhood) is shown on the map.
On sale day, the exact address becomes visible to anyone who saved the listing or finds it on the map.
You may take down your listing at any time from the dashboard. This removes the address from public view immediately.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.
We share data with service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, payment processing, email delivery) under strict data-processing agreements.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete the personal data associated with your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@greatgaragesales.com.
You may request a copy of all data we hold about you.
You may close your account at any time. Active listings are taken down immediately; your data is deleted within 30 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary session cookies to keep you signed in and a single preference cookie to remember your search radius.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (256-bit SSL). Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes and never in plain text.
We conduct regular security reviews. If you discover a vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to security@greatgaragesales.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect.
Continued use of Get Garage Sales after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
